Alamptria – Bloodstone Crypt - Prologue

The dark world is on the rise. None will live, for they are doomed. None now will rest. They cannot resist. For the blood of the living shall be their nutrient. To a dark storm’s rage, through wind and rain, we feel its presence. For the dark lord will unleash the creatures of the night to infest all mankind. But the demons of the night are greatly deceived, for there is a magical force that stands in their way. The power of mystical swords shall clash with the undead, a force that will cripple the creatures of the night. None shall resist the powers of Petoshine!

The days of joy and happiness were threatened. The hope of mankind looked frail against these dark, destructive forces. But there was some optimism left with the coming of the three blades of Petoshine.

It was the year 1328. For centuries, Elysium had been a land of the living and a land of the free, but was now in the throes of battle with the lizard-like Kongorfs.

In an attempt to free the people of Elysium from the clutches of these wretched creatures, the great elf wizard Grongone set out to the city of Krog in the land of Muforia. The Kongorfs were not pleased to see him and launched a fierce attack. With a strong arm and the magical powers of his claymore, Grongone was able to force the Kongorfs back, yet there were so many of them, it wasn’t long before they overshadowed the great wizard, seizing him and taking his magical sword.

When they tried to wield the magic sword, however, they could not access its power as it was linked only to Grongone. To the creatures’ confusion, Grongone forced the claymore back into his hand; its deep magic drew a force so strong, it pushed the lizard creatures far off, sending them flying into the hills. Grongone approached the Kongorf’s great leader, Agopar, urging him to free the people of Elysium. Agopar refused to cooperate, so Grongone used the powers of the claymore and terminated twelve Kongorfs by sucking the breath out of them.

“Agopar, do you wish to see more of your kind die?” he asked, brandishing his sword. “Free the people of Elysium at once.”

Agopar, realizing he was no match for Grongone’s magic, ordered the Kongorfs to stay away from the Elysians.

Over the following years, peace set upon the lands; even the Kongorfs’ hearts softened, and they became a great ally with the human race, and for four hundred years, man was in control of the territories.

It was only a matter of time, however, before the people of Elysium began to fight amongst themselves. The Elysians were followers of the Church, bound to Christ, but a branch of Separatists had formed, who called themselves the Bramonians. Not only would they not serve the Lord and obey the commandments of the Church, the Bramonians also refused to honor the king of Elysium, as was the rule of the land.

Eventually civil war broke out. The Kongorf creatures’ uprising of a few centuries prior was little compared to this war of man against man. The death toll was catastrophic.

At the war’s end, the remaining Bramonians were banned from the city, forced to live elsewhere. With this, it seemed once again peace was restored to the land. But lurking in the shadows was a rising dark force. Humans would soon learn that the only thing to save them from what was to come was solidarity among men.

In light of the evil he knew was to come, Grongone set about creating three swords of essence, three claymores of extraordinary power that he conjured in the mystical palace of Petoshine. Grongone sought three knights who would be worthy of the claymores’ astonishing power. His quest to find the three men who could take possession of this great power took him on a journey across many lands, yet none who were suitable could be found, and he began to believe his search to find such knights of noble acclaim was fruitless. Grongone vowed to keep the claymores hidden in his possession until men of such honorable worthiness presented themselves.

Time passed, and on one day of 1729, possession of these claymores and their extraordinary powers was bestowed to three knights from the city of Elysium. One was given to a man called Caprius Seaton, and the other two were given to his twin brother, Dragus, and their older brother, Andromin. Each would use these claymores of power to defend against the evil that dwelled upon these lands.

With their claymores of power in hand, the Seatons quickly rose to power. Soon, most were aware of the Seatons great Vim of Petoshine, and the Seatons were greatly respected. But an outbreak was soon to follow…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 12, 2012

Hotly anticipated re-release hits Fantasy Fiction world

Richard A. Valicek's award-winning, expanded Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt set for re-release early 2013.

Toronto - August 21, 2012 - Richard A. Valicek's dark fantasy epic Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt in an expanded, newly titled version will be released by Double Dragon Publishing in early 2013. Not since JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy has such a book shaken the world of fantasy fiction. Fast-paced action, high-flying adventure, love and loss all play out in the vibrantly detailed mythological landscape of the kingdom of Elysium and foreboding vampire-ridden Plaphorius. In 'Bloodstone Crypt', in the eighteenth century, good is in a desperate battle with evil. The Seaton brothers, knights imbued with extraordinary powers, attempt to vanquish the dark lord Makoor's vampire minions and his legion of doom. It is only through solidarity among men and the magic of Grongone the wizard that the knights are able to restore their people's faith and strive for freedom from such fiendish persecution. But when a vampire seed is planted in the city of Koriston, and the princess Melina Hampshire is fooled by evil Tyrus Clore and taken to the far off land of Plaphorius to marry into the vampire cult, the Seatons' faith in overcoming the dark forces is shaken. It is up to Caprius Seaton and his brothers, Andromin and Dragus, along with the Elysian army to save their kingdom and the entire human race from extinction.

Originally released under the title Alamptria: Red Moon Rising, the book won the 2011 Buzzillions Reviewers Choice Award and generated a cult following. Comments about Alamptria: Red Moon Rising detail the author's ability to bring together intelligent themes with exciting action and characters:

'In a time of vampire-mania, readers and viewers alike are bombarded with overly simplistic tales for teenagers, denigrating the vampire and fantasy genre; however, Richard A. Valicek restores the genre's glory with his intricate plot, enthralling language, and powerful themes. While we search to find a sense of meaning in today's tales of vampires, often left without a deeper theme, Valicek's compelling tale is simultaneously dynamic and leaves a resounding sense of the importance of both solidarity and inevitable triumph of the good and free over seemingly insurmountable forces of evil.' (Bwbatlarge, Amazon.com)

'Valicek's book intrigues and entertains. The plot really moves with action and sensual interludes. "Alamptria" has characters of all kinds, including requisite heroes and heroines. Hot themes of the day such as vampires, religion, fantasy, action-war, and mythic creatures are interwoven. I couldn't put it down!' (Karen, Dallas, Texas. Amazon.com)

'This feels like a Tolkien book with many creatures a mind could not fathom their existence. Valicek is great with imagery and setting and I look forward to more in books in this series.' (Rebecca Gal, Amazon.com)

Richard A. Valicek is originally from Toronto, Canada. He graduated with a certificate in the Liberal Studies Program from George Brown College, where he also received a diploma in Graphic Design. Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt is distributed by Double Dragon Publishing and is set to release in early 2013. The book will be available at thousands of retailers nationwide both as a trade paperback and online for the Ibook, Nook, Kindle, and Epub. HISTORY OF THE VAMPIRE

He is the hunter who preys upon humans in his lust for blood. He is the iniquitous beast with the strength of ten men. He is swift enough to dodge bullets; stealthy enough to fly into the night as a bat; capable of transformation into a wolf, into a heavy mist, or into nothing at all, and as suddenly can vanish in a moment. He is Dracula: the blood sucking vampire. These immortal creatures captivate audiences because they speak to the beast that lies inside us all. Our curiosity about these blood-sucking parasites is insatiable. Is it the horror and danger? The overwhelming desire for eternal life? A dark possibility for seduction? Or it is that they can assume human form yet possess superhuman dark powers? It is certainly all of these. Vampires have captured the literary imagination now more than ever. Dracula is one of the most powerfully written fictional characters ever created, and the books and films in which he appears continue to intrigue audiences.... READ MORE

The Secrets Of Writing

Overcoming Writers Block

Richard A Valicek's Ways To Help You Overcome Your Non-Productive Writing! It's Effective! And it works!

A writers work is recognized and the writing is cherished for many years. For some more than a life time. For hundreds of years, thousands!, but many writers aren't lucky enough to find success. To write is to live and breath words. To want to write means to forget about watching television. How badly do you want to write? Writing is an art. You have to want to write for the right reasons. If you're in it for money, then prepared to be hit hard! 'Most likely, It isn't going to happen!' But if your determined to make it happen and your persistent enough, you can defy the odds. The fact is that with most people, if they stick to something long enough, things can get quite exciting. People who were scraping the barrel have managed to find success. Becoming a good writer takes years. For some people it can happen quicker. Who knows you just might be introduced to a publisher from someone you befriended. It can, it happened to me. If your still reading this, then you have the sense to know that there is much more to writing than money. Some people who claim to be writers persist in working in shadows. Eventually, years later, their true colors show and they find that they have been living a lie. We writers continue to produce stories because we have a tale to tell. We don't do it to pay the bills. We do it because it gives us joy and we want to share are tales with the rest of the world. If you don't agree with this, then again, leave this site. You still here? Good, then I know I'm not wasting my time. Your obviously a person with extreme interest in literature. I've made it simplistic for you. I don't go on writing pages and pages of this. I give you the facts in simple format, and to the point. What I offer you, are helpful ideas for writers, that are effective and work for me to become a better writer. I have a saying I came up with. 'He who writes for the right reason's, shall reap the rewards in given time.' When I first started out in 2001, I didn't have much too go on. Although my grammar was pretty good, and my spelling was kind of weak, I didn't let that discourage me. I had one person say to me; 'Richard, you are not a writer. You don't read.' That person was upset at me for his or her own personal reasons. That was a hard hit to my self-esteem. But I wouldn't let that stop me for my love for writing. Writers are driven. It is their passion.

People often ask me, where do you get your ideas from? Today, ideas are hard to come by. These past one hundred years have been a century of millions of books produced. You might say, what's left for writers? There is, you have to spend time thinking of ideas. Although most of my ideas are my own, sometimes I do get stuck. And like a lot of writers, I borrow from others. I take an existing idea from a book or movie and I change things. The idea is changed enough, that it becomes original. You can't take an existing idea or set of words and use it! That's plagiarism. But you can change it dramatically, that it appears like something entirely different. Writers do it all the time.

'I'm stuck. I sit by my computer and I can't write a thing.' This is very common. What you're having is a writers block. I must say that I am guilty of producing nothing at times. What I do to overcome this problem is write something, anything. You might write several sentences that really don't pertain to your story. But that's okay! You need to get your mind working. You will find that after a while, you will start to get into the groove. Then you'll start writing things that do make sense to the story. And then you can go back to what's written, and rewrite it to the way it should read. This process of overcoming writers block, that, I have come up with works for me 98% of the time. If on the other hand you still are having trouble, than perhaps you should turn off your computer and go out for a walk. Go to a near by park. You'll find, that the peacefulness and the surroundings are quite stimulating for the mind. Breath in the fresh air. Try sitting on a park bench and see if you can come up with something. After a good walk try to resume writing. In many cases I found that this helped. If you still are having trouble, that perhaps its just not your day. In this situation, the best thing to do is to resume another day.

This might even drag on for a week. I found that after returning to my writing after a weeks time I was back in producing quality work. My writer's block has never gone further than a weeks time. I have been very successful of eliminating writers block. All my ideas on helping you overcome the non productive writing will help you. It is up to you to make the effort.

Often a person who wants to become a writer asks them selves, what should I write? If you enjoy a certain type of book or movie, and are deeply moved by it. Or perhaps you're a fan of fantasy like I am, then that's what you should be writing. If something doesn't interest you, then chances are, you can't write about it. You can try, but if it persists then don't bother. You can't make your self to be a romance novelist if you take no interest in romance. A good writer is smart enough to know that writing is influenced by your love for reading and writing.

Do you ever ask your self, how can I be a writer if I'm not a good speller? Or, I can't seem to edit my story. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! I can help you with that problem. The fact is I'm not that great of a speller my self. A writer's best friend is a dictionary. You got it, use it! The fact is the more you read and write the better a speller you will become. When you get to use a certain word often enough, eventually it sinks in and you'll remember it. The more you write, the better speller you'll be. As for editing, you can't edit it your self. You can try to catch some of the mistakes you've made but what you really need is a professional editor. That's what they're there for! Even an editor who has a book that he or she is working on has someone to read it over for them. Editors can cost money, but shop around. Or if you know someone who is an English major, perhaps they can help you out.

A person might ask them selves, how can I find a better word than the one I've chosen? If you don't like the word you used, invest in a thesaurus. Like a dictionary, it to will become an important part of your life. I have two dictionaries and two thesaurus'. I keep one set in my laptop case and one at home. If I'm going to go to a coffee shop to spend some quality time writing, I always have them with me. A writer must have his writing resources. Don't leave home without them!

I hope this article on helping you overcome your writing problems was helpful. It has worked for me and I know it will help you too. If there is one thing that I hope you got from all this, I sincerely hope you don't let anyone tell you that you are not a writer. Don't listen to their bull shit! Chances are, they don't want you to succeed. Writing is like a drug. You have to want to write. And that means writing and reading every week. If you can express your thoughts into words, even if it is in the most simplistic format, YOU ARE A WRITER!

THANKS FOR VISITING!
